Ik zie een mooie toekomst voor je, vol mooie spulletjes/dingen/bezittingen, maar heb je ze echt nodig? In heel je leven zal jij acht ton plastic afval produceren! Dat is zo groot als twee olifanten, minstens! Wil je echt twee olifanten plastic achterlaten op deze planeet? Als ik jou was, lieve jij, dan zou ik mijn best doen te leren hoe je moeder aarde wat gelukkiger kan maken. Klinkt een leven op de planeet Ecopocalypse als een mooie toekomst? Dat dacht ik al, niet echt he?
We willen allemaal wel eens onszelf verwennen, maar als we niet goed zorgen voor elkaar wordt niemand echt gelukkig. Net als in het dierenrijk leven we allemaal samen in één groot eco-systeem, en wij allemaal samen moeten samen zorgen voor mij: moeder aarde. Ik beloof je plechtig dat je een gelukkiger en mooier leven zal leven als je beter nadenkt over je beslissingen in het leven.

Ik weet dat het best moeilijk is om te begrijpen hoe jouw keuzes de planeet beïnvloeden, maar het is de moeite waard om dit te gaan begrijpen. Soms weet je wat de verstandigste weg is, maar toch denk je eerst aan jezelf. Vergeet je wat voor impact je hebt op de planeet. Dan besef je niet dat jij en ik eigenlijk een en dezelfde zijn, één. Ik begrijp het best, jij bent ook maar een mens, maar ik wil je wel vragen of je jouw gewoontes wil veranderen. Wil je dat doen voor mij? Vergeet niet: ik ben jouw moeder aarde, de moeder van jouw moeder, haar moeder, haar vader, hun hond, de zonnebloem in de tuin van de buren en hun vrienden, de bijen… Wist je dat alles eigenlijk allemaal begonnen is bij mij? Ik denk dat je dan best wat meer kan recyclen, en iets minder kan kopen!

Tip: Vergeet het niet, jij en ik zijn één.

However, you hardly resist temptations: shiny objects, half-prices, newest releases… You like to please your senses, but does it have to be at the expense of your dear Mother Earth? I know you think about me, and you do recycle. But did you really need all that stuff in the first place? Put your knowledge into practice and next time you feel empty or sad, instead of buying things, have a nice meal or call a friend. You hold the key to our destiny, what will it be?

Tip: Sometimes you need to see the world from an ant’s perspective. Jij weet het allemaal: hoe je moet recyclen, wat te kopen, niet zomaar consumeren. Maar… je vind het best moeilijk om verleidingen te weerstaan. Mooie spulletjes, uitverkoop, de nieuwste gadgets. Je gunt jezelf graag wat, maar moet jouw lieve moeder aarde daaronder leiden? Ik weet dat je aan me denkt, en je recyclet wanneer dat kan. Maar heb je al die spullen/bezittingen echt nodig? Wees verstandig en weet dat de volgende keer dat je je even niet zo goed voelt je niet meteen iets hoeft te gaan kopen om je beter te voelen. Ga iets heel lekkers eten of bel één van je vrienden. Jij bent de baas over je eigen toekomst. Wat ga je doen?

Tip: Soms helpt het om de wereld te bekijken alsof je een mier bent.
